I am not ready for it to be winter but already the fashonistas are calling our attention to the fact that winter is, quite literally, just around the corner. It seems only yesterday we were shedding the heavy sweaters and coats in favour of T-Shirts and light floaty dresses and tops – now it seems we are to be piling them all back on again. Too soon! Still, there are some plus points – signature jumpers being just one. This Autumn / Winter we will be celebrating the funky, big knit, and chunky sweaters – try to go for something a bit different, as opposed to the plain, dull and polyester knit churned out by the likes of Evans and other high street stores!
I found this lovely Superfluffy jumper in an Aztec pattern with ribbed cuffs, hem and neckline from Apricot Online – also available in Black and Burgundy, which embraces the forthcoming trend of patterned jumpers which make you stand out. I like its strong lines and good use of colour. Apricot Online definitely have a good range for the forthcoming season which I hope they will add on to the closer it gets.
If you like jumper dresses then you might like to check out Apricot Online actually – a beautiful contrast jumper dress with Bodycon dress styling is definitely a must have if you want to accent those curves this coming winter – and I heartily recommend ever lady have the simply but very clingy to the curves bobble jumper dress which would be fabulous dressed up with a few simple accessories.
Dorothy Perkins don’t have a massively wide selection at the moment but I did really like a couple of pieces. This Neutral Navajo jumper and a nicely and simple design which still managed to be quite striking. But, for me at last, its their collection of chunky cardigans which worked to catch my eye this time. The jumpers seem a little dull and in short supply but I would definitely recommend one of their cardies for the chilly nights!
Normally a little sceptical of such stores I then ventured onto Isme who actually had one of the best collections of jumpers for the coming season I had seen up to then! I absolutely adore their use of colour blocking in some of their new season items – especially this lovely and simple scoop neck jumper with lovely use of three colours. Defintely have a lovely collection of jumpers – some of which are available in plus sizes.
One store never guaranteed to let you known for funky clothing which manages to be unique and on trend is Joe Browns who this season have surpassed themselves with their collection of knitwear. My personal favourite is this patchwork jumper and this Totem Pole sweater which is bright and colourful, and definitely likely to bring a little colour to any dull and dreary winters day.
Miss Selfridge too has just themselves proud so far with a lovely collection of simple and colourful jumpers in a wide variety of designs – a good selection of patterned, colour block, a chunky knit jumpers with something to appeal to everyone.
Finally my journey in pursuit of knitwear ended at Missguided who had a good collection of jumpers in a variety of weights and styles – and, I might add, at very reasonable prices (just 19.99 for a good lightweight sweater). I personally thought this skull sweater was really cute – available in both black and white.
So, enjoy the rest of your summer, and be prepared for the onset of cold weather with a signature jumper or two – the funkier and brighter the better!
